In 1983, Reverend Denis Mary Joseph Ononuju, CSSP, founded the Congregation of the Holy Family Sisters of the Needy in Nigeria in order to gather women together to carry on the apostolate of the Church in service to the poor and needy of the world. The members follow the spirituality of St. Theresa of the Child Jesus. The Sisters came to Lincoln in June of 2000. Their convent is located near Pius X High School in Lincoln. The Sisters have served at St. Elizabeth Hospital, Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital, Pius X High School, and Catholic Social Services.
