LINCOLN (SNR) - The fourth annual softball game between the priests of the Archdiocese of Omaha and the priests of the Diocese of Lincoln will be played at Lincoln’s Haymarket Park on Father’s Day 2018. Tailgating starts at 1 p.m., gates open at 4:30 p.m. and the first pitch will be at 6 p.m.
In the past three annual games Lincoln has won, but last year, Omaha was down by four runs and had the bases loaded in the bottom of the final inning before Father Nicholas Kipper (pictured with organizer Richard Zierke of the Knights of Columbus) caught a fly ball to end the game. Lincoln won 16-12.
The crowd of 4,000 plus cheered on their priests, and raised more than $15,000 for vocations in the Omaha and Lincoln dioceses. The series next year plans to move back to Omaha at Werner Park, with a two-year rotation, two games at each site.
Tickets are available at Gloria Deo stores in Lincoln and Omaha, Cosgrave in Omaha, and from the Saltdogs website.
