Schools from Lincoln Diocese Named ‘Superstars’ by KVSS

OMAHA (SNR/KVSS) – St. Michael School in Hastings, St. Joseph School in Lincoln and St. Wenceslaus School in Wahoo were all awarded the title of "Superstar Catholic School" during Spirit Catholic Radio’s first-ever Superstar Catholic School Contest that coincided with Catholic Schools Week 2013.

Nearly 8,000 votes were cast in the contest for the 87 Catholic elementary schools within the Spirit Catholic Radio listening area. The top two schools from the Northeast Nebraska; Central/West Nebraska; Lincoln; and the top four schools from the Omaha/Iowa Metro region were named Superstar Catholic Schools.

Each school received a banner to be displayed in their school, treats for school staff, and an on-air interview with Spirit Catholic Radio’s morning show "Daybreak." Interviews can be heard at spiritcatholicradio.com.

"This contest exceeded our expectations," said Spirit Catholic Radio Executive Director Jim Carroll. "We were simply hoping to do something fun for the Catholic elementary schools in our listening area and never imagined we would receive thousands of votes. It’s apparent that just like the team here, our listeners love their Catholic schools!"

"We congratulate the winning schools and all Catholic schools in the listening area," he continued. "We appreciate the time, talent and dedication of the students, teachers, staff, parents, parishes and communities that support Catholic education."

Spirit Catholic Radio is currently accepting entries from schools for their ninth annual School Folder Art Contest open to all K-8 students and home school students in the listening area. Details can be found at spiritcatholicradio.com.
