Magnificat Plans Seminar Retreat Weekend, Meal Featuring Nebraska Native

LINCOLN (SNR) – Mother Lucy Lukasiewicz, superior general of the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ, with two Sisters from her order will present a “Life in the Spirit” seminar at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly. Mother Lucy will also speak at a Magnificat meal April 11 at 5 p.m. at Beacon Hills Country Inn and Suites, 5353 N. 27th St., Lincoln.

Mother Lucy was born in Grand Island, and is the daughter of Larry and Kayleen Lukasiewicz of Farwell. She grew up in the parish of St. Anthony in Farwell. She joined the Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ in 1982.

By the time she was elected for the first time as Superior General in 2002, Mother Lucy had served the community in many ways, in the Sisters’ mission houses in Texas and Louisiana, as head of plant-maintenance at the motherhouse and as formation directress for the temporary professed Sisters. She also worked at numerous evangelistic outreaches to use her God-given musical talents for the spreading of the Gospel.

The Disciples of the Lord Jesus Christ are located in Prayer Town, Texas. They are a Franciscan and Charismatic community of religious Sisters. The Sisters seek to bring all people everywhere into a deeper relationship with Jesus Christ, through the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit.
