When I’m 64’ to benefit Plattsmouth climbing-accident victim
PLATTSMOUTH (SNR) – Terry Little, Nebraska musician and entertainer, will celebrate his 64th birthday as he has the past 21 years – “with a little help from his friends” at the annual “Music Coffee House” Feb. 7 at the St. John School gym in Plattsmouth.
The evening of folk music will be held from 6:30 p.m. until midnight, and will feature the talents of local and regional artists including John Kool, The Old Krusty Minstrels, Tom Lucas with Terry Tomlinson, 37 Years, Jonathan Little and An Evening.
There is no charge to attend, but free-will donations will be accepted for the Brian Wiese relief fund, to help with medical costs for series injuries sustained in a climbing accident in the Italian Alps. Wiese, now 33, was a student at St. John School and a member of the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth.
The coffee house event is an evening for adults only. Coffee and refreshments will be served, but attendees are invited to bring snacks and beverages to share. Attendees are also invited to dress in 60s and 70s coffee house style, as prizes will be awarded.
The coffee house started 22 years ago in Terry’s basement. About 50 friends gathered for songs and stories from the 60s and 70s. The next year it moved to the school gym so that more people could attend. It has become an annual celebration on the first Saturday of February and has drawn crowds of up to 400.
A convert to the Catholic faith, Little has ministered in music to congregations and entertained audiences around the world for the past 45 years. He also shares a close partnership with his son Jonathan, forming the Catholic father-son musical duo “With the Spirit.” During the past 18 years, they travelled extensively around the United States, playing and singing at festivals, coffee houses and liturgies, conducting music workshops, preparing and coordinating liturgical music and directing choirs for conferences and summer camps. Both musicians and songwriters, they have appeared on EWTN’s Life on the Rock television show and have several solo and duo albums to their credit.
Terry Little is director of music at the Church of the Holy Spirit in Plattsmouth. Jonathan Little is a member of St. Mary Parish in Denton. The two will perform together at the upcoming coffee house.
