Icon painting workshop planned for summer

LINCOLN (SNR) – An icon painting workshop  will be presented by the Office for Family Life and Evangelization June 25 - July 1 at the John XXIII Diocesan Center, 3700 Sheridan Blvd., Lincoln.

The six-day, intensive course in traditional painting techniques of Byzantine iconography will focus on the art of egg tempera painting. Through the process of demonstrations, the stages, as well as the whole method of painting an icon, will be presented. The students will then put into practice these skills under the guidance of instructor, Theodore Papadopoulos, a Byzantine iconographer from Larissa, Greece, with more than 20 years of experience.

The course is of interest to adults of any level of artistic education.
