LINCOLN (SNR) – Students age 8-14 may participate in five days of musical instruction in Gregorian chant, culminating in a Mass at the end of the week, chanted by all the camp participants.
The camp will be conducted from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. daily, Aug. 3-7, in the St. Thomas Aquinas Newman Center on the UNL campus, 16th and Q streets, Lincoln.
Youth will be instructed by Nicholas Lemme, chant director at Our Lady of Guadalupe Seminary in Denton. He said the participants will develop skills in solfège sight-singing, Ward Method singing games, vocal technique, ensemble singing and aural skills, basic medieval music theory in the areas of rhythm, notation, and modes, and Latin pronunciation
The cost to attend is $50 per child, or $125 per family, for those sending three or more children.
