Parish plans retreat for adults with developmental disabilities

‘Jesus My Friend’  to be held Nov. 14

OMAHA (SNR) - The Knights of Columbus of St. Robert Bellarmine Parish in Omaha will hold “Jesus My Friend,” a retreat for adults with developmental disabilities, Saturday, Nov. 14, from 9 to 11:30 a.m.

The retreat will be held in the parish cafeteria at 11802 Pacific St., Omaha.

The retreat is non-denominational, and meant for adults age 18 and older with developmental, cognitive and/or physical disabilities. Organizers said they hope the event will provide an opportunity for participants to encounter Christ “through a fun-filled morning of prayer, music, scripture, and activities.”

Many volunteers and the Knights of Columbus of St. Robert’s Council, who are sponsoring the retreat, will help present scripture readings and meaningful activities to help attendees deepen their relationships with Jesus Christ as a friend and constant companion.

Father Eugene McReynolds, OSB, who has served as a chaplain at Boys Town, will also be a part of the retreat day.

Participants will receive all materials and snacks.

The event is limited to 100 participants, and the registration deadline is Nov. 6. The suggested donation is $10, but no one will be turned away.
