DONIPHAN (SNR) – Catholic women from across the state are invited to a day of presentations and inspiration Nov. 5 at St. Ann’s parish hall, 202 N. 5th St., Doniphan.
Members of the Leadership Training Development (LTD) team of the National Council of Catholic Women (NCCW) will offer presentations and lead discussion, exercises and prayer for women of all ages. Pastors are also welcome to attend.
The NCCW consists of thousands of Catholic women and affiliated Catholic women’s organizations in parishes and dioceses throughout the United States. The LTD program was designed to provide information usable in home, work and other organizations, and to promote and nurture membership, participation, enthusiasm, vision and development.
The program was developed by a team of leaders of NCCW, “by women for women.” Pilot programs were tested in Oklahoma City and Plover, Wisc., and the program was launched in 2009. Programs have since been presented in multiple states and repeatedly at NCCW conventions.
Ann Jansky of St. Wenceslaus Parish in Milligan saw the program at the 2016 NCCW convention, led by Linda Clark and assisted by Amy Kennedy, who will both be in Doniphan Nov. 5. One of the things she appreciated was how each topic had spirituality woven throughout the segment.
“They stressed, ‘We are not human beings having a spiritual experience. We are spiritual beings having a human experience,’” she related.
Jansky said she wanted to stress what a beneficial experience the training can be for all women.
“The LTD training is not intended only for board members or officers,” she said, “but will be beneficial to every woman in the pew.”
Kennedy, of Salt Lake City, will have her first experience as NCCW leadership trainer at the Nov. 5 event in Doniphan.
“I think the Council of Catholic Women is one of the best kept secrets in the Church,” she said. “I love sharing our message and working with Council sisters to find new ways to support, empower and educate Catholic women.”
Clark, who has been a trainer since 1998 and helped write the existing LTD program shared that it is custom designed for each area, “and issues that are of concern to your diocese.”
“We are getting excited about coming to Nebraska and connecting with all our sisters there,” she said.
