Catholic Daughters celebrate ‘Advent by Candlelight’

HASTINGS (SNR) - Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court William McDonald #1009 in Hastings held its second annual “Advent by Candlelight” Nov. 30 at  St. Michael Church’s Theisen Hall.

More than 175  women from Hastings and surrounding community areas attended the evening preparing their hearts for Jesus’ coming at Christmas.

The featured speakers for the event were Heather McQuillan and Becky Deavers, creators of “Go Forth Podcast” (available at goforthpodcast.com). They spoke about the Blessed Virgin Mary’s influence and role prior to the birth of Jesus through the sharing of a “surrender novena,” the story of St. Catherine of Siena and identifying charisms,  and a book, “Left to Tell” by Immaculee Ilibagiza.

With the free-will donations of those attending “Advent By Candlelight,” food baskets for eight families were donated, from the “Good Angel Trees” at St. Cecilia and St Michael churches.
