Matt Talbot Kitchen to honor Compassion in Action award winners
LINCOLN (SNR/MTKO) – Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (MTKO) in Lincoln will honor the 2017 “Compassion in Action” award recipients at the Feeding the Soul of the City dinner and fundraising event at Nebraska Innovation Campus March 23.
The public is invited to attend and support Matt Talbot and its continued outreach and support of the homeless, near homeless, and hungry in Lincoln.
The individual Compassion in Action Award will be given to Dr. Ram Bishu, who received four separate nominations. Bishu completed nine years on the Matt Talbot board last year and served as chair of the fundraising committee for most of those years. In addition, he leads several different hunger relief serving teams from the India Association of Lincoln and conveys compassion in action toward MTKO guests.
The collaboration Compassion in Action Award will be presented to Dennis Hoffman and CenterPointe. Hoffman helped Matt Talbot with the task of applying to Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for the First HOPE project. CenterPointe is a long-time partner helping MTKO guests gain access to disability services, through street outreach, the Lincoln Homeless Coalition, Project Homeless Connect and a host of other collaborations.
Feeding the Soul of the City starts at 5:30 p.m. March 23 with a social hour and silent auction. The dinner and program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Reservations may be purchased online at MTKO.org.
“We are so excited to host this special dinner and program each year,” said Susanne Blue, executive director. “It is a wonderful celebration of compassion, community and collaboration.”
