RED CLOUD (SNR) – The Altar Society and CCD families from Sacred Heart Parish in Red Cloud and St. Katharine Drexel Parish in Franklin co-hosted “A Missionary Childhood Lasagna Supper” Feb. 4 at Sacred Heart’s parish hall.
Donations of those providing and attending the free-will offering meal raised more than $210 for the Missionary Childhood Association (MCA), to be used for poor and hungry children throughout the world.
One of four Pontifical Mission Societies, the MCA, formerly called the Holy Childhood Association, was established in 1843 in France. Founder Bishop Forbin-Janson envisioned “children helping children,” through which he hoped both the receivers and givers would come to better know Christ, and experience His love and care.
The Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women recommends these youth-centered missionary activities throughout the diocese.
