Letter from Bishop Conley, Easter 2015

To the Clergy, Religious, and Lay Faithful of the Diocese of Lincoln:

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Alleluia! Jesus Christ is risen!  I extend to each of you my prayers, and my Easter blessing.

Pope Francis says that Easter invites Catholics to “let the risen Jesus enter your life, welcome him as a friend, with trust: he is life!”

Jesus Christ is life.  He is the source of all joy, all peace, and all hope.  And, through his Passion, Death and Resurrection, His mercy is the source of everlasting life.

I pray that this Easter will fill your homes and parishes with the joy of new and everlasting life.  I invite you to spend time rejoicing in the Lord.  I invite you to follow Jesus Christ in all things, and to trust in his mercy, and in his Providence.

Easter is the triumph of God’s abundant mercy.  In our families and communities, many people are awaiting the mercy of God.  Many are in need of forgiveness.  This Easter, may we be missionaries of mercy: inviting every person we know to encounter the love of God.

May you experience the joy of new life this Easter.  And may each of us proclaim Christ, carrying the Gospel to world, and making disciples of all nations.

Wishing you and your families every blessing this Easter,

                                                                                                 Sincerely yours in Christ,

                                                                                                  +James D. Conley
