‘Life In the Spirit’ women’s retreat

Retreat March 16-18; presenter speaking at Magnificat dinner in Lincoln March 18

WAVERLY (SNR) – Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly will host a “Life in the Spirit” retreat March 16-18, for women of all ages.

The retreat will be presented by Susan Potvin and the Living Praise Worship Team, a music ministry from Ohio, and is sponsored by the Morning Star Chapter of Magnificat. 

Potvin, worship leader and inspirational speaker, has been involved in Catholic renewal work for more than 30 years. She and her husband Urby reside in Steubenville, Ohio. Susan is the leader of the Living Praise Worship Team, which has produced six CDs and traveled nationally and internationally, serving churches, revivals, retreats and other conferences and events.  Susan is also an adviser to Magnificat, a ministry to Catholic women.

Joining the retreat will be Anne Recznik, the keyboard player of Living Praise Worship Team, and singer Carolyn Cannizzaro.

The Life in the Spirit retreat will include talks about the Father’s intimate love for each person, and the opportunity to seek the healing Jesus has for all, and to learn about the gifts of the Holy Spirit and experience His empowerment. The retreat will include small group discussion, times of praise and worship, and opportunities for silence, prayer, Eucharistic adoration and the sacraments.

Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House offers a sanctuary of prayer and recollection on a spacious acreage near Waverly. The facility includes 50 single rooms, each with a private bath. Retreats typically begin with rosary and Mass at 8 p.m. on Friday, and end with Mass and lunch on Sunday. Upcoming retreats will be held March 19-22 – a silent Ignatian retreat; March 23-25 – “Finding Peace in the Will of God” with Father Gary Coulter; and April 6-8, a Divine Mercy retreat with Father Christopher Kubat.


LINCOLN (SNR) - In addition to the weekend retreat, Susan Potvin will speak at a Magnificat dinner Sunday, March 18, at 5 p.m. – after 4 p.m. prayer and worship music – at Hillcrest Country Club in Lincoln. 
Reservations must be prepaid by March 12, by sending a check to “Magnificat” c/o Tina Colgan, 521 N 56th St, Lincoln NE 68504. The cost is $25 per adult and $15 per student.

In her testimony, Susan will share about her oldest son’s battle with drug addiction and how the Lord can heal broken families through the power of His forgiveness.  Susan said she longs for all women to know the power of God’s love and healing in the midst of their lives and their families and speaks the restoration message of Isaiah 43.
