‘An Act of Reparation’ tells story of Bl. Franz Jagerstatter

DENTON (SNR/CNA) – “An Act of Reparation,” a play about the life of Blessed Franz Jagerstatter, will be performed July 11-13 at 7 p.m. and July 14 at 2 p.m. at St. Mary Church, 7105 Cass Ave., Denton.

Blessed Franz Jagerstatter was an Austrian farmer, husband, and father of three young children. He was executed in 1943 after refusing to serve in the German army during World War II. He was declared a martyr by Pope Benedict XVI in June 2007 and beatified by Cardinal José Saraiva Martins Oct. 26, 2007 in Linz, Austria.

The play is written by Cathal Gallagher, produced in cooperation with GK Chesterton Productions, and directed by Patsy Urbanovsky, a member of St. Mary Parish. The production includes a cast and crew of more than 30 Catholics of all ages from multiple Lincoln-area parishes.

The two-hour play will be performed in St. Mary’s basement, which is accessible by stairs only.
