Pius X Students Receive Nominations to Top Military Academies

LINCOLN (SNR) - Congressman Jeff Fortenberry selected 13 students from eastern Nebraska to receive nominations to America’s top military academies, including Timothy Weber and Aaron Wurster, seniors at Pius X High School.

“A military academy appointment is both a high honor and a great responsibility,” Fortenberry said. “Nominees must demonstrate sound character, rigorous scholarship and capacity for leadership. I am pleased to nominate several young Nebraskans who meet these qualifications.”

Aaron WursterTimothy (TJ) Weber was nominated to the United States Merchant Marine and Naval Academies. He is a member of Blessed Sacrament Parish in Lincoln and has a 3.5 grade point average at Pius X. He is involved in many activities including football, discus, God Teens, Air Force Junior ROTC at Northeast High School, and volunteering at Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach and for the Special Olympics. He has accepted an appointment to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy and plans to pursue a major in marine engineering at the academy in Kings Point, N.Y.

Aaron Wurster of St. Joseph Parish in Lincoln was nominated to the United States Air Force, Military, Naval, and Merchant Marine Academies. He has a 3.9 grade point average and is involved in football, soccer, God Teens, and Air Force Junior ROTC at Northeast High School. He is also a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity and Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach, and is a lifeguard at Hillcrest Country Club. He is interested in a career in the Air Force.
