Diocese learns of lawsuit alleging Crosier abuse

LINCOLN (SNR) – The Diocese of Lincoln learned July 29 that members of the Crosier Fathers and Brothers were named in a lawsuit alleging abuse of young people in Minnesota.

Three of the men reportedly served or were domiciled in Hastings between 1949-1960. Brother Roman Fleischhacker joined the Crosiers order in Hastings in 1949. Brother Gerald Funcheon worked in Hastings in 1959 and 1960. Brother Gabriel Guerrero worked in Hastings in 1957 and 1958.

While the Diocese of Lincoln has received no allegations of abuse related to these men, anyone with such information is urged to directly contact the police, or to contact Msgr. Timothy Thorburn at the diocesan Chancery office in Lincoln, 402-488-0921.

The Diocese of Lincoln complies fully with all civil and ecclesiastical laws with regard to allegations concerning child abuse.  All employees of the Diocese of Lincoln who have contact with young people are screened with background checks and receive training to recognize the signs of child abuse.  Anyone with information concerning such allegations should contact the Child and Elder Abuse Reporting Hotline 1-800-652-1999, State Patrol, the local police or sheriff and the Diocese of Lincoln.
