HOLDREGE (SNR) - Bishop James Conley celebrated Mass at All Saints Parish in Holdrege Nov. 21 to rededicate the newly-renovated church.
Father Lux, pastor of All Saints Parish and St. John Parish in Smithfield, has been heading up renovations to All Saints Church, which was built in the mid-1950s.
“We’ve been working for close to five years to find what our needs were and try to come up with a plan that we could carry out,” Father Lux said.
The tabernacle has been highlighted, with a new shrine altar for it to sit on and a posterior wall extending from floor to ceiling to hide the exit doors behind it. A new main altar, ambo, and presider’s chair have also been installed.
Porcelain tile lines the main aisle, with various medallions and patterns in the flooring. There is new carpet under the pews, which have been respaced for easier accessibility.
The ceiling has been changed to hide ducts. Brighter, more focused LED lighting has been installed. More niches have been put in to hold statues, as well as a niche and arches to house the main crucifix. There will also be a mural painted around the crucifix.
Bishop Conley also blessed the new FM radio signal operated from the rectory Nov. 21. It is part of the Spirit Catholic Radio Network.
Father Lux said that renovations will continue in the church.
“This would be like phase one,” he said. “There’s a lot of things that would be nice to do. Those are yet to be determined.”
