GRANT (SNR) – Twelve youth and six adults from Benkelman, Grant, Imperial, Trenton and Wauneta joined “Christ in the City” missionaries in Denver and helped serve the homeless in the park Oct. 8.
“We were all nervous at the beginning, but it turned out great,” said Katie Dubas, director of youth ministry for the Grant deanery.
The group also went to Mass at the downtown Basilica of the Immaculate Conception and were invited up to the choir loft to meet the organist in person and see the organ up close.
Christ in the City, a Catholic non-profit dedicated to forming missionaries, volunteers and communities in knowing, loving and serving the poor, began its work with Denver’s poorest in 2010. In 2011, CIC was adopted by the Christian Life Movement (CLM) as the service arm of their mission in the United States.
