My vocation story

Sister Servants of the Holy Spirit of Perpetual Adoration (SSpSAP)

I believe God planted the seed of vocation to the consecrated life in me, as I had clear reminiscences from childhood.

For instance, I was once asked by my second-grade teacher, what did I want to be when I grow up? I answered candidly, “I want to be a nun.”

Then came a moment in my life as a young adult, a strong inner stirring that unsettled me and although I did not understand, I knew it was a longing for something deeper and more meaningful, more than practicing my profession. I did not take myself too seriously, but God did, as the next few months and years He assured me of His providence; and grace was truly working in me. I was determined to let go of everything.

I was striving for the sake of success, achievement and security. Again the providence of God was manifested when around that time I met a new- found friend from an SVD Seminary, (a Congregation of priests having the same founder with the Pink Sisters - Saint Arnold Janssen). While we were touring the seminary grounds, he asked me if I have been to the Pink Sisters’ convent, which is only two blocks away across the street.

I replied, “I never knew nor heard of the Pink Sisters.”

And right then and there we went off and crossed the street. Lo and behold, as I knelt down to pay homage to the Lord in the Most Blessed Sacrament, I was struck! It was love at first sight. I simply told my friend, “one day you will see me inside the grille.”

I was so drawn to the Blessed Sacrament. The Sisters’ charism of perpetual adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament and praying for the whole world, but especially for the priests, have attracted me most.

Although I joined the Pink Sisters soon after that, my understanding of what I am about is still vague. I am wont to think of it as jumping into the boat in the water, and letting God paddle the canoe. What now? Where is this going? Somehow I trusted an inconspicuous voice within me that spoke: “Trust Me.”

In all the ups and downs of my consecrated life, and my perseverance up to this moment one thing is sure: God has never let me down, He is always with me! This is a true love story and I am thrilled to share this. Only in God did I find true and real fulfillment, peace and joy, and I want to shout this joy to the world!
