Peace to you.
On behalf of the employees, staff, volunteers, benefactors and Board of Directors of Catholic Social Services, I want to wish each and every one of you a blessed, safe, and Merry Christmas!
May we thank Jesus Christ for our blessings and remember to share His blessings upon us with the poor and marginalized of southern Nebraska.
I share with you a poem that was written by my Great-Uncle Tom Epperson in 1959 for the American Tung Oil Association’s national magazine.
Thank you for your support and prayers for CSS. May we live greatly! And may the peace of the newborn Christ Child flood your hearts with joy during this Christmas Season and upcoming New Year!
Christmas is for children,
You’ve often heard it said;
And were it not for little ones
Then Christmas would be dead.
Maybe I am still a child,
If so, then let it be;
For Christmas still is something
That means a lot to me.
Aside from toys and stockings hung,
And trees that sparkle so;
Or Santa’s smile, and carols sung
Of silver bells and snow.
Aside from all the many things
Extolled by song and rhyme;
Christmas still is something great,
A very special time.
For Christmas is a day of love,
That fills each care-worn heart
With glowing warmth, and gives
The troubled soul another start.
On Christmas Day short years ago,
A Savior from above,
Came with glory down to earth
To fill the world with love.
Can we not devote one day,
If not the whole year through;
To spreading joy to all mankind,
As He would want us to?
So on this coming Christmas Day,
Wherever you may go;
Give joy to all your loved ones,
And your heart to all you know.
