The Bishop’s Appeal for Vocations organizes an annual appeal collection, which supplies some of the cost of the expenses for our seminarians, our future priests, in their studies, training, and formation for the priesthood.
• The annual Bishop’s Appeal for Vocations is an integral part for the future of the diocese, and every person is invited to participate in the future of the Church by helping form our future priests.
• 2019-2020 vocations budget is over $1.5 million, 25% of the Diocese of Lincoln operating budget. The parish goal is $800,000, further funds will be needed though the Catholic Foundation of Southern Nebraska seminary endowments and burses.
The Bishop’s Appeal for Vocations is assisted by laity representing parishes throughout the diocese who desire to promote vocations to the Priesthood and Religious life.
One of the ways they do this is by organizing a “Seminarian of the Week” and “Sister of the Week” in which parishes are invited to pray each week for a particular seminarian studying to become a priest in our diocese, or for one of the novices or postulants studying and working towards final vows in one of the religious orders in the diocese.
