Bishop James Conley celebrated a vigil Mass Dec. 7 at St. Mary Parish in downtown Lincoln, for the feast of the Immaculate Conception, the patroness of St. Mary Parish, of the Catholic Diocese of Lincoln and of the nation. The church, dedicated “St. Mary’s Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception” for the Diocese of Lincoln in 1911, served as the cathedral of the diocese until the dedication of the Cathedral of the Risen Christ in 1965.
