Members of Ss. Peter and Paul Parish in Abie celebrated the 150th anniversary of the parish with a Mass and celebration June 27. Bishop James Conley celebrated the anniversary Mass, and a meal and program followed. Former pastors Father Thomas Lux, Father Ronald Homes and Father William Holoubek attended.

Ss. Peter and Paul Church was organized in 1876. Located in the Village of Abie in eastern Butler County, the parish was the first and oldest Czech parish in Nebraska. It currently serves approximately 65 families. The original church was replaced with a larger building, which was destroyed in a fire in 1918. The current brick church was dedicated in 1920. The church underwent a major restoration, and Bishop Conley rededicated it Jan. 29, 2017.
