LINCOLN (SNR) – Magnificat of Lincoln is taking reservations for their spring prayer meal with speaker Janette Howe Saturday, June 9, at 9:30 a.m.
Howe founded the Seven Sisters Apostolate, which is a call to strengthen the Church by ensuring that a holy hour is prayed each day of the week, for the sole intention of a specific priest or bishop. A Seven Sisters group is comprised of seven women, with each one selecting one day per week to pray, Monday through Sunday, preferably before the Blessed Sacrament, for one year—totaling 52 holy hours of prayer for a specific priest.
During her talk, Howe will share her own personal journey of faith. To attend, mail a $20 check (the student price is $10) payable to Magnificat by June 5 to: c/o Tina Colgan, 521 N. 56th St., Lincoln, NE 68504. Pre-paid registration is required; no walk-ins. With questions, contact Magnificat coordinator Rhonda Litt at 402-489-3819, or text or call 402.525.6396.
Magnificat is a ministry to Catholic women, a private association of the faithful within the Catholic Church under the jurisdiction of the Lincoln Diocese. It started October 7, 1981 as a prayer meal for 200 Catholic women in New Orleans as a faith-sharing experience in a relaxed social setting. Since this first prayer meal, Magnificat has become an International Ministry spreading across the world with chapters currently located in the United States, Canada, the Caribbean, Malta, Poland, and Africa.
Magnificat of Lincoln, the Morningstar Chapter, was approved by Bishop Bruskewitz and held its first prayer meal breakfast March 9, 1996.
The primary purpose of Magnificat is to help Christian women become more open to the Holy Spirit through a deeper commitment of their lives to Jesus as Lord and to impart the Holy Spirit to one another by their love, service and sharing the good news of salvation. The next prayer breakfast will be Sept. 22 in Lincoln, featuring Angela Copenhaver, the Lincoln development director for Spirit Catholic Radio.
