Father Casey Porada dies at 68 in Lincoln

LINCOLN (SNR) – Father Casey Porada, senior priest in residence at Blessed Sacrament Parish in Lincoln and chaplain at Bryan LGH West Hospital, died May 25. He was 68.

A funeral Mass was celebrated May 31 in the Cathedral of the Risen Christ with priests of the Diocese of Lincoln concelebrating and Bishop James Conley and Bishop Fabian Bruskewitz in attendance.

Butherus Maser & Love Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Father Porada was born in Fairford, England, and was ordained to the priesthood May 28, 1989, at St. Peter Basilica by St. John Paul II for the Diocese of Ponce, Puerto Rico. He was a member of the Oblates of Wisdom and was incardinated into the Diocese of Lincoln in 2001.

During his time of active priestly ministry in the Diocese of Lincoln (1993-2018), Father Porada served as assistant pastor at Blessed Sacrament, St. Mary Parish in David City, and St. Joseph Parish in Beatrice.  He also served as chaplain at St. Joseph Villa in David City. 

Father Porada is survived by one sister and two brothers.  He is also survived by nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews.
