WAVERLY (SNR) - The Regnum Christi movement invites all men and women to join in their upcoming retreats, designed to reveal Christ’s love especially through prayer and the sacraments, helping retreatants come to know better the truths of the Catholic Faith and forming them as apostles to discover their God-given mission in life and in the Church.
The upcoming retreats, held at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House near Waverly, will be Oct. 25-28 for women with Father Peter Krezalek, L.C. and Dec. 6-9 for men with Father Ed Hopkins, L.C.
The retreats are preached based on the classic Spiritual Exercises developed by St. Ignatius of Loyola. Retreatants meditate on the principal truths of the Christian faith with a special emphasis on following and imitating Christ. Each person is invited to have a personal encounter with Christ as they discover him in the Gospels. The retreats will be presented by priests from the Legionaries of Christ with individual spiritual direction available.
Regnum Christi (Latin for “Kingdom of Christ”) is a world-wide Movement within the Catholic Church with five great loves: Christ, the Church, the pope, the Blessed Virgin Mary, and souls.
Live a Christ-centered spirituality: where Christ is the center, standard, and source of our lives and our happiness. Seek an authentic love for the Church and faithful adherence to the Holy Father. Have a close devotion to Our Lady, primarily in the imitation of her virtues. Dedicate one’s time and energy to the salvation of souls.
These retreats are open to men and women of all ages, including those who are not familiar with the Regnum Christi movement. Both include an option to begin Thursday night (four-day) or Friday night (three-day), and end with Mass on Sunday followed by lunch.
Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House offers a peaceful atmosphere of prayer and recollection, situated on a spacious acreage near Waverly. The facility includes 50 single rooms, each with a private bath.
Other upcoming retreats for men and women include: Oct. 19-21, Catechist Retreat; Nov. 2-4 Healing Retreat with Father Doty; and Nov. 16-18 “Learning to Love” with Father Kilcalwey. Register online and see the full schedule of retreats at www.goodcounselretreat.com.
