Annual Lenten series to begin March 11

LINCOLN (SNR) - The 2019 Lenten series will be held in St. Teresa Church, 735 S. 36th St., Lincoln, from 7:30 to 8:30 p.m. on Mondays of Lent.

This year, rather than meeting in the church basement, the series will meet in the church.

The annual series of conferences is sponsored by the Office of Evangelization and Spiritual Formation. Each event will include a 30-minute talk followed by Eucharistic adoration.

The theme for this year is: “Spiritual Disciplines,” recalling, “By the solemn forty days of Lent the Church unites herself each year to the mystery of Jesus in the desert.” (CCC540)

The first event will be March 11. Matt Simmons, director of the Office of Evangelization and Spiritual Formation, will present “Spiritual Disciplines of Lent.”

On March 18, Father Benjamin Holdren, pastor of St. Peter Parish in Bellwood, will present “Prayer.”

Simmons will present “Fasting” March 25.

Father Justin Fulton, in residence at St. Teresa Church in Lincoln, will present “Almsgiving” April 1.

The final conference will be April 8. Simmons will present a guided meditation.

There is no cost to attend, and all are welcome at the conferences.
