WAVERLY (SNR) - All are invited to discover the mercy of God and the power of his Word with a retreat at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat in Waverly, March 29-31 with Sharon Doran.
The event is entitled, “Scriptural Lenten Retreat on the Boundless Mercy of God.”
Sharon Doran has a passion for Scripture that will motivate and challenge retreatants to immerse in God’s Word and apply His message to everyday life. Sharon has master’s degrees in educational psychology and pastoral theology with an emphasis in Sacred Scripture, with more than 17 years experience teaching Scripture.
“On this retreat the only book you will need is your Bible,” Doran said. “There will be six Scripture sessions, exploring both New and Old Testament stories, each showing an example of God’s incredible Mercy for humankind.”
She continued, “Lent is the perfect time of year to enter into the silence of prayer and reflection. There is no better way to pray than thru God’s own love letter to humanity, the Sacred Scriptures themselves. It is often difficult in our busy lives to slow down and listen to what the Lord wants to tell us as His very own beloved sons and daughters. There is no doubt that the Lord will speak to you if you come with an open heart ready to receive his merciful gaze and grace.”
Sharon and her husband Steve are the founders of Seeking Truth Catholic Bible Study, which has spread around the world in parish programs and online studies for individual learners. Seeking Truth offers a deeper study of the Bible and personal application, responding to St. John Paul II’s call for a New Evangelization as well as Pope Benedict XVI’s exhortation for all Catholics to study Scripture. More information is available at www.SeekingTRUTH.net.
Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House offers 50 single rooms, each with a private bath, and a peaceful atmosphere of prayer and recollection, situated on an acreage near Waverly. Each retreat includes meditations by the retreat master, and opportunities for silence, prayer, adoration and the sacraments.
Upcoming events at Our Lady of Good Counsel include a Palm Sunday retreat for men and women April 12-14 with Bishop Gilmore and Jacqueline Loh, and two retreats for women: April 18-20, Holy Week with the Marian Sisters and May 10-11 with Janette Howe of the Seven Sisters Apostolate.
