St. Michael in Lincoln launching ‘Camp Archangel’
LINCOLN (SNR) – St. Michael School in Lincoln will hold summer enrichment programming for students finishing grades K-8 with the inaugural season of “Camp Archangel.”
The camp will run for three consecutive weeks beginning June 3.
Students enroll in the “camps” of their choice, based on grade level. The one-week classes or camps will be taught primarily by teachers from Catholic schools in the Diocese of Lincoln. The morning session runs from 9 a.m. to noon, and the afternoon session runs from 1 to 4 p.m. Early drop-off and supervised lunch time is available for an additional fee.
The camps are open to all students, whether they are home-schooled, or attend a parochial, private, or public school. Daily Mass will be celebrated at 8:15 a.m. and all are welcome to attend.
“I think programming like this is very exciting and will be well-received by parents and students,” said Emily Sellhorn, Camp Archangel coordinator. “We are working hard to ensure there’s a variety of fun class options for kids.”
Class topics include “Scooby-Doo Mysteries,” “Spinning Yarns,” “Pickle Ball,” and “Safari Adventure,” to name a few.
“In addition to being a fun experience for the students to share with friends, it’s a nice option for parents who are looking for summer activities for their children,” added Sellhorn. “The teachers are very excited about this camp, too!”
“St. Michael School is a wonderful facility and provides a great space for a camp like this,” said Mrs. Sue Braun, principal of St. Michael School. “Our current school parents are very supportive so we’re excited to provide this opportunity for summer programming.
“We welcome children finishing grades K-8 to join us for summer enrichment fun,” she added.
St. Michael School is located at 9101 S. 78th St. in Lincoln. Registration for Camp Archangel begins March 23 through the school’s website, www.stmichaelmarauders.org.
