(SNR) - The parishes of Sacred Heart in Red Cloud and St. Katharine Drexel in Franklin held their first-ever Holy Childhood Partnership Project this Advent to benefit needy children in mission lands.
The children of both parishes participated in a free-will offering event Dec. 4 at the Sacred Heart Social Hall in Red Cloud. They handed out invitations, decorated the dining tables, presented a reflective program with music, helped serve a spaghetti meal, and washed dishes afterward.
Members from both church families generously gave their support for the event, including providing individual family items for an international display table.
Pastor Father Paul Frank was asked to sing for his church families, and he complied, singing "How Beautiful," a song about the Eucharist.
The inspiration for the event came from the Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (LDCCW). The LDCCW is encouraging these HCA Advent partnership projects throughout the Diocese of Lincoln, not only to benefit children in the missions, but also to nurture family togetherness within parishes and to help youth live their faith by working together in charity.
