Havelock Car & Truck Show

38th annual event to benefit St. Gianna Women’s Homes

LINCOLN (CSS/SNR) - Historic Havelock Avenue in Lincoln will be the site of a Car & Truck Show, raffles and auction for the benefit of St. Gianna Women’s Homes.

Hosted by the Capitol City Ford & Mustang Club, the 38th annual “All Makes Auto & Truck Show” will be held Sunday, Sept. 8 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Capitol City Ford & Mustang Club generously chose St. Gianna Women’s Homes as this year’s show charity.

Approximately 250 registered show vehicles will compete in 60 classes for more than 180 awards. In addition, there will be about 50 club member, vendor, law enforcement and firefighter vehicles on display.  All are invited to come out to the free event to enjoy the show vehicles.

The Lincoln Art Guild will offer painting of children’s faces and a clown will create balloon figures for children.

Hardwood Dash band will perform with live rock and  country music.

The St. Peter Knights of Columbus Council 10510 will serve lunch, with all proceeds to benefit St. Gianna’s. Gianna’s Java & Gelato will offer gelato.

An auction will include a framed casual photo of Bob Devaney that hung on the wall in his living room and was purchased at his estate sale. There will also be an authentic Joe McDermott print of former NU quarterback Tomie Frazier with Tommie’s autograph.

Volunteers will sell raffle tickets for a $1 donation, or six tickets for $5. All proceeds of the raffle and auctions will go to St. Gianna’s.

Participants may enter your specialty vehicles in the show from 8 to 10 a.m. for $30.

St. Gianna’s Home for Women is a 24-unit home for women escaping domestic violence and other forms of abuse and control. The units are fully furnished and designed to give the women and children the time and support they need before safely transitioning into permanent housing. During their stay at St. Gianna’s Home, the residents receive guidance and community support from the Marian Sisters and resident care manager. Counseling services at Immaculate Heart Counseling Center are also made available for the women.
