Men and women seeking deeper spiritual freedom and healing are invited to attend the Unbound: Freedom in Christ retreat Aug. 21–23, led by Father Gary Coulter at Our Lady of Good Counsel Retreat House in Waverly.
The retreat is based on “Unbound: A Practical Guide to Deliverance” by Neal Lozano and is designed to help participants respond more fully to Jesus Christ’s invitation to abundant life through prayer, reflection, and spiritual healing.
The retreat will begin Friday with the rosary and Mass at 8 p.m. and concludes Sunday with Mass and lunch at noon. Both in-person and virtual participation options are available.
Through teachings, prayer, reflection, and the sacraments, participants will explore how wounds, lies, fears and spiritual strongholds can prevent individuals from fully receiving God’s mercy and freedom. The retreat centers around the “Five Keys” of the Unbound model of prayer ministry.
Trained members of the Diocese of Lincoln Unbound Ministry prayer teams will be available to pray individually with retreatants using the Unbound model. Organizers ask participants wishing to receive prayer ministry to read the first nine chapters of the Unbound book, or watch the accompanying video series beforehand.
“Unbound provides a safe and effective model that helps individuals respond to the Gospel and apply the Lord’s grace, love, and truth by deeply listening to their own story and heart,” retreat organizers said. The retreat will include meditations by Father Coulter, opportunities for Eucharistic Adoration, the Sacrament of Reconciliation, the Liturgy of the Hours, silence, and personal prayer.
Located on peaceful acreage near Waverly, the retreat house offers 50 private rooms with individual bathrooms, providing an atmosphere of prayer, silence, and renewal.
Organizers emphasized that retreats are intended to be accessible to everyone and encourage those needing financial assistance to contact the retreat house. Additional donations are also welcomed to help support retreat accessibility for others.
