The Catholic Diocese of Lincoln earned eight awards for its communications work at the recent Catholic Media Association (CMA) conference held in Atlantic City, N.J., June 16 -19.
The CMA serves dioceses, parishes and ministries in the United States and Canada, and its award competition annually attracts hundreds of entries.
Corbin Hubbell, social media coordinator for the Diocese of Lincoln, was honored with a third-place award for “Social Media Professional of the Year.” Hubbell, who has been serving in his position for three years, coordinates all social media across the diocese’s platforms. He also produces videos, photos and content for social media and the Southern Nebraska Register.
Hubbell’s work leading the 2025 video and print project “A Minute of Hope” earned a first-place award in the category “Best Video – Hot Topic: The Jubilee Year” for diocesan and national news organizations. The weekly series featured short videos from priests, religious and laity talking about Bible verses or passages from Church documents or books that give them hope.
Bishop James Conley received third-place honors for “Best Regular Column – Bishop’s Column in a Diocesan Newspaper.” Judges reviewed several columns from each bishop before determining winners. They commended Bishop Conley for being able to share what he has learned and how it can be applied to those in the diocese.
The Diocese of Lincoln earned five honorable mention awards. “Jubilee Year 2025: Pilgrims of Hope” won for “Best Multimedia Package” for Jubilee Year topics. Father Gary Coulter, Cathy Bender, Corbin Hubbell and Bishop James Conley contributed to that effort.
In the category “Best Reporting on a Special Age Group – Young Adults,” Reagan Scott and Natalie Bender teamed up to win honorable mention for “I Can’t Think of Something More Hopeful: Newman Center’s OCIA Class Welcomes 95 Students.”
The story “Faith, Family, Football: Junior Bolts Program Incorporates Catholic Identity Into Game Plan” won honorable mention in two categories: “Best Sports Journalism – Sports Feature or Column” and “Best Reporting on a Special Age Group – Children and Teens.” Those involved with that project were Dennis Kellogg, Cathy Bender, Natalie Bender and Corbin Hubbell.
Kevin Clark also earned an honorable mention in the “Best Photo Story – Feature” for his work on “Leadership Camp 2025,” highlighting a week for altar servers at Camp Kateri Tekakwitha.
“These awards illustrate the variety and quality of work being done by our communications team,” said Dennis Kellogg, director of communications for the Diocese of Lincoln. “We’re proud to be able to earn such honors in this national competition that includes dioceses of all sizes and national Catholic news organizations. We have great stories to tell in our diocese and we look forward to telling more of them.”
