The Lincoln Diocesan Council of Catholic Women (LDCCW) conducted its 17th annual October Pro-Life Diaper Drive in October, but donations are still welcome.

The LDCCW is an organization of all Catholic women in the Diocese of Lincoln which aims to enrich the lives of Catholic women by pursuing projects designed to further spiritual and family life. Organized in 1932, the LDCCW has undertaken dozens of projects which fulfill the corporal and spiritual works of mercy as outlined by the Church.

Each October, in honor of “Respect Life Month,” the LDCCW collects donations of diapers, or monetary donations, for diocesan pregnancy centers and Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska. Diapers are shared with pregnancy centers in Beatrice, Hastings, Lincoln, McCook, North Platte, Superior and York, as well as Birthright and Women’s Care Center in Lincoln, and Catholic Social Services in Auburn, Hastings, Imperial and Lincoln. Several organizations receiving the diapers indicated the requests they receive for diapers have increased 30% since March 2026. The most needed diaper size is 6.

In October 2025, the LDCCW collected more than 200,000 diapers – in donations of diapers and cash donations which allowed the purchase of additional diapers. The diapers donated in size 6 were exhausted in June.

Monetary donations should be made payable to “LDCCW” and sent to 3600 W. Wittstruck Rd., Martell, NE 68404.

Kay Wessel, diaper drive coordinator, explained the reason behind the annual drive.

“Why do we ask for the diaper donations? As Catholics we want to help the mom that has chosen life for the baby, rather than abortion. Our donations may eliminate the need to use money to purchase diapers rather than food.”
