LAWRENCE (SNR) – Funded by several funeral memorials, baptistry renovations continue at Sacred Heart Church in Lawrence.
The new baptismal font was designed and built by the pastor, Father Thomas Bush, in a wood shop owned by Pat Reiman. Meanwhile, Father Bush said, Carla and Carolyn Kohmetscher, and Barb and Brenda Janda have spent many volunteer hours working on renovating the entryway of the church.
Bishop James Conley celebrated Confirmation at Sacred Heart Church April 23 for 14 students from the parishes of Sacred Heart and St. Stephen in Lawrence, and Our Lady of Assumption Parish in Deweese.
“The baptismal font is beautiful,” he said, “and it is a witness to the faith of the priests and people of Sacred Heart, who worked to build it, and to prepare a place for it. I was proud to see the work being done in Lawrence.”
