Parish plans ‘Battle Ready’ presentation

DAVID CITY (SNR) – St. Mary Church in David City will host Catholic speaker Doug Barry Tuesday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. in the church, 580 I St., David City.

Barry will present a talk lasting approximately 90 minutes. He will speak about his apostolate “Battle Ready,” an effort to encourage and strengthen the fighting spirit in all Christians.

“Some Christians do not take this spiritual warfare seriously,” his website says. “It is Battle Ready’s mission to, God-willing, spread the message of the spiritual war raging around us and, God-willing, reach the souls of those who need to hear this message.”

Barry will also speak on the Passion of Christ, sharing “the power of Christ’s sacrifice, what it means, and why you should care.”

Barry, a member of the Cathedral of the Risen Christ Parish in Lincoln, also founded Radix in 1991, to encourage and inspire as many people as possible to go to the heart of a relationship with God through prayer, the sacraments, and the Word of God.

Barry is a husband and father of five, and co-host of EWTN’s “Life on the Rock.”  He has traveled throughout the U.S. and internationally for the last two decades addressing the reality of spiritual battle.

The April 11 event is being hosted by St. Mary Church’s “FunRaising Committee.”

“It will strengthen and encourage you to be more aware of, prepared for, and engaged in the spiritual fight,” Barry said.

All are invited to attend the April 11 event. There is no cost to attend, but free-will offerings will be accepted.
