More than 500 people signed up for the fourth annual “Back From the Dead” cemetery walk, held over several evenings at Calvary Catholic Cemetery in Lincoln. The event is held each year near Halloween to help walkers (adults and older teens) reflect on the four last things: death, judgment, heaven and hell. Participants encounter actors dressed as martyrs, saints, and others who have fictitiously come “back from the dead” to encourage people to live holy lives in accordance with Christ’s teachings. The walk is organized by Blake and Cheryl Winter of St. Joseph Parish in Lincoln, who attended a similar walk in Maryland.
