Resource Teacher (kdg–8th)
Position Overview
St. Michael Catholic School is seeking a compassionate, collaborative, and student-centered Resource Teacher to join our Student Services Team. The Resource Teacher provides targeted academic support and specialized instruction to students in kindergarten through eighth grade while partnering with classroom teachers, families, and the Resource Coordinator to ensure every student is known, supported, and able to flourish.
This position plays an integral role in implementing our Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS), supporting the Student Assistance Process (SAP), monitoring student progress, and helping teachers meet the diverse learning needs of all students.
Essential Responsibilities
Student Support & Instruction
- Provide targeted instruction and academic support to students in kindergarten through eighth grade.
- Deliver evidence-based interventions and specialized instruction in reading, math, writing, and executive functioning based on individual student needs.
- Implement accommodations and instructional strategies that support student success.
- Support students in developing organization, study skills, self-advocacy, and independent learning habits.
- Collaborate with classroom teachers to ensure continuity between classroom instruction and resource services.
Student Services & MTSS
- Collaborate with the Resource Coordinator to support implementation of the Student Assistance Process (SAP/MTSS).
- Assist in identifying students who may benefit from additional academic or behavioral support.
- Participate in problem-solving meetings and contribute to the development of intervention plans.
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional supports based on assessment data.
- Maintain accurate documentation of interventions, accommodations, progress monitoring, and student growth.
- Support transitions between grade levels by sharing student support plans and recommendations.
Collaboration & Communication
- Work closely with classroom teachers to provide instructional strategies, accommodations, and resources that support diverse learners.
- Collaborate with administrators, the school counselor, specialists, LPS staff, and other support staff to promote student success.
- Communicate regularly with families regarding student progress, goals, and strategies for supporting learning at home.
- Participate in parent conferences, student support meetings, and other collaborative planning sessions as needed.
Assessment & Progress Monitoring
- Utilize formal and informal assessment data to guide instruction and student support.
- Monitor student growth and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and instructional strategies.
- Maintain organized and confidential student records in accordance with school policies and applicable regulations.

Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Education.
- Special Education endorsement or teaching experience is highly desirable.
- Valid Nebraska teaching certificate.
- Experience working with students requiring academic support or specialized instruction.
- Knowledge of MTSS, intervention practices, differentiated instruction, and progress monitoring.
- Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Endorsement or experience in Special Education, Reading, or Elementary Education.
- Experience providing literacy and/or mathematics interventions.
- Familiarity with student support processes and collaborative problem-solving teams.
- Ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
- Commitment to fostering student confidence, growth, and success in a faith-centered environment.
