Spirit Catholic Radio Honors Cathedral School!
Spirit Catholic Radio's annual Super Star School Contest had a first time winner in 2015: Cathedral of the Risen Christ. Only two schools were chosen from the region (St. Peter's will also represent the Lincoln region), and contest winners were picked through an online campaign. Cathedral principal Jeremy Ekeler was a guest on Spirit's morning talk radio, and the school will also receive a banner and other prizes from Spirit.
During the interview Ekeler highlighted the work of the Cathedral Family of families, using examples like the Team Hibler and Prayer Warrior campaigns to demonstrate the impact and teamwork of the community. Time was also spent on air discussing the upcoming Cathedral Auction, Eagle Dash and October's living Rosary.
Morning co-host Jen (of Spirit Morning's "Jen & Bruce Show") said, "What strikes me is the impact of prayer and the lesson being taught to students at Cathedral. Counting prayers because prayers count, I just love that concept and the lesson it teaches our children. That's what Catholic education should be about."
Ekeler said, "Though I've done some sports radio, this was a new experience. I felt humbled and honored to represent Cathedral and tell our story. It was a great highlight to a tremendous year, and the best possible way I can think of to kick off Catholic Schools Week 2015."
Students and teachers at Cathedral were actually in Mass during the live airing of the interview, but did listen to it online via Spirit's website.
