Pius X to Celebrate Catholic Education, Alumni, and Donor Support
August 8-9 is jam-packed with events, reunions and honors to celebrate the rich history and strong support of alumni and friends of Pius X High School. The weekend will include a fun run, alumni reunion, a donor appreciation reception, and an induction ceremony to celebrate Pius X’s athletic accomplishments.

ThunderBOLT Fun Run
The 5th annual ThunderBOLT Fun Run will kick off the weekend at Holmes Lake Park on Saturday morning, August 8. Running and walking enthusiasts of all ages are encouraged to join Pius X for a family-friendly 1-mile walk/run or a competitive 5K.
Prizes will be awarded in the 5K for the top three male and female runners, as well as for the top male and female finishers in each age division. Prizes will also be awarded for best reunion class participation and to the individual with the most outrageous show of green & gold spirit.
The early registration discount for the ThunderBOLT Fun Run ends July 24. Participants may register online at www.piusx.net.
All Honor Year Reunion
In addition to individual class activities, an All Honor Year Reunion will be held on Saturday, August 8 for the Pius X honor classes (years ending in 0 and 5) and any Pius X or Cathedral alumni who have already celebrated their 50th class reunion.
The afternoon and evening will include school tours at 3 p.m. and Mass in the school’s chapel at 4 p.m. The Pius X alumni department and the Pius X Foundation also will host a reception from 5-7 p.m. During a short program, Cathedral alumni and 1957-1964 Pius X alumni will be honored as members of the school’s Golden Thunderbolt Club.
Friends of Pius X Appreciation Reception
The annual Friends of Pius X Appreciation Reception will be held on Sunday, August 9 from 2-4 p.m. The event honors benefactors for their support of Pius X through their time, talent and treasure.
At approximately 3 p.m., the Pius X Foundation will have a short presentation that will honor this year’s Distinguished Stewardship and Outstanding Alumna award honorees. Joe and Agnes Hanigan of Lincoln will be honored as Distinguished Stewards, and Dr. Mary Case ’67 of Washington will be named the 2015 Outstanding Alumna.
Athletic Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony
The weekend will conclude with former-student athletes and a beloved coach being honored with induction into the school’s recently established Hall of Fame. The reception and awards ceremony will be held following the Friends of Pius X Appreciation Reception on Sunday, August 9 beginning at approximately 4:30 p.m.
The second annual class of inductees includes three athletes, one coach, and one team award. Those being honored are Chris Wickham '64, Paul Kastl '98, Nikki (Colson) Harrington '00, Coach Don Kelley, and the 1957/59 Golf team.
