Swim & Dive Team Gives Back to the Community
On Tuesday, December 29, the Pius X Swim & Dive Team members and families cooked and served lunch at the Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (MTKO). Inspired to give back to the community, the team arose to the occasion under the organization of Mrs. Sally Heasty (daughter Morgan Heasty is a sophomore on the team) who purchased food items for the meal from dollars collected from team families. The meal of tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, fruit, and brownies was a hit on a cold, blustery December day. In preparation for a full schedule in January, the team headed off to practice afterwards. The Bolts will strike again on Thursday, January 7, at 5:30 p.m. at Lincoln North Star in a triangular meet with Fremont. All are welcome to come and support the team in their hometown of Lincoln. Matt Talbot Kitchen & Outreach (MTKO) is a faith-based hunger relief and outreach program that was established in 1992. Devoted to serving homeless and near homeless men, women, and children, MTKO provides meals twice daily, every day of the year. The Bolts are led by Head Coach Mike Witt and assisted by Devin Jensen and Sheila Boothe.
