Cathedral of the Risen Christ School's Grace Fastenau's original artwork, "Keep Christ in Christmas", has won the Knights of Columbus State of Nebraska First Place Honor. Fastenau's work now moves on to compete against 49 other competitors at the National competition at the national meeting of the Knights of Columbus. This news was announced by Cathedral Grand Knight Brayden McGlaughlin and Principal Jeremy Ekeler after First Friday Benediction on May 6th.

Grace, who was left nearly speechless and with "nervous-happy shakes", created the artwork in her Art Class with Mrs. Baumgartner. "It took me about 20 or 25 minutes; it sort of drew itself," she said.

Grace has proven her artistic talents throughout the school year as she has helped direct Art Club, design hallways beams with murals, and created Mr. Ekeler's business card.

"She is an amazing talent," Mr. Ekeler said. "Grace has big things in front of her, and I think her ability to create is a true gift from God."

McGlaughin said, "This is big for Cathedral, and big for Nebraska. Grace's talent is obvious, and we really think she's got a great chance to make her school, parish and state even prouder when this is unveiled at the national meeting."
