Rebekah Allick, former Nebraska Husker volleyball standout and current LOVB Nebraska player, will speak at the Sept. 13 “Pro-Life & Pie” event in Hastings.

The annual event is sponsored by South Central Nebraska Right to Life. It will be held at the Lochland Country Club, 601 W. Lochland Rd. in Hastings. Doors open at 1:30 p.m. and the program begins at 2 p.m. Participants may choose fruit pie or an ice cream sundae bar. Raffle prizes will be awarded.

Allick will share her story of faith and perseverance, and the experiences that shaped her life, both on and off the court.

Allick has frequently lent her voice to causes that recognize the dignity of human life, such as I’ve Got a Name, a program that strives to help victims and potential victims of sex trafficking in Nebraska. In 2024, she appeared with other Husker athletes in ads supporting the state’s pro-life constitutional amendment (Initiative 434) and opposing an abortion-rights measure (Initiative 439).

At the 2025 Nebraska Walk for Life in Lincoln, Allick addressed the crowd: “You are more than a clump of cells,” she said. “You are more than just an accident. You are not unplanned.”

“There is a divine God that reigns over each and every one of us,” she continued, saying she wanted all people to know how valuable their lives are.

“They matter,” she said. “You matter.” Pointing to a group of people protesting the Walk for Life, she said, “our brothers and sisters over there matter.”
