By Fr. Justin Fulton

Peace be with you.

On behalf of the employees, staff, volunteers, benefactors and Board of Directors of Catholic Social Services of Southern Nebraska, I want to wish each and every one of you a blessed, safe, and happy Thanksgiving!

May we always thank God for his bountiful goodness to us. And may we thank Him and His Son for Jesus’ Resurrection which has given us the opportunity to live in the Life of the Blessed Trinity.

May we thank Him for our blessings and remember to share His blessings upon us with the poor and marginalized of southern Nebraska.

I share with you a Litany of Thanksgiving that was shared with me by the Holy Spirit Adoration Sisters (Pink Sisters) in Lincoln. Perhaps consider praying this at your family dinner this Thanksgiving, and throughout the year. This will be my column every print date before Thanksgiving for as long as I write this column, because I believe this is one of the most beautiful prayers ever written—and it gives us our fundamental stance as Catholic Christians: to be thankful children of God.

Thank you for your support and prayers for CSS. May God bless us all!

A Litany of Thanksgiving
For all You have given me,
My God, I thank You.
For all you have withheld,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have withdrawn,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have permitted,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have prevented,
My God, I thank You.
For all the sincere friends
You have given me,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have
forgiven me,
My God, I thank You.
For all You have
prepared for me,
My God, I thank You.
For the death You have
chosen for me,
My God, I thank You.
For the place You are
keeping for me in Heaven,
My God, I thank You.
For having created me
to love You for eternity,
My God, I thank You.
My God, I thank You
for all things.
And may I live and die
thanking You. Amen.
