Rome, Assisi pilgrimage planned around ordination

Informational meetings Jan. 4 in Minden, Jan. 11 in Lincoln

ROME (SNR) - The North American College (NAC) in Rome will celebrate the ordination of 62 transitional deacons next September, including Andrew Schwenka of the Diocese of Lincoln.

The 62 seminarians hail from 50 dioceses throughout North American and Australia. Forty-six plan to be ordained in Rome, and 16 in their home dioceses.

A native of Holy Family Parish in Heartwell, Schwenka entered St. Gregory the Great Seminary in Seward in 2012 and graduated in 2015. He has been studying at the NAC since the fall of 2015.

Schwenka’s family is planning a nine-day pilgrimage to Rome and Assisi, Italy around the Sept. 27, 2018 ordination at St. Peter’s Basilica in Rome, and all are welcome to join.
