Sixth annual contest highlights local Catholic schools
(SNR/KVSS) - Spirit Catholic Radio’s sixth annual “Superstar Catholic Schools Contest” will be held Jan. 29 through Feb. 3 to coincide with Catholic Schools Week 2018.
The contest is for all Catholic elementary and high schools in the listening area. Voting will take place at spiritcatholicradio.com/superstar.
New this year, school voting will be broken into community-size categories, to make the contest more equitable for schools located in small communities. One Catholic elementary school and one Catholic high school from each size category will be named a 2018 Superstar Catholic School and will receive: a live interview on Spirit Catholic Radio’s Spirit Mornings show, free prayer cards for every student, a trophy to be displayed at the school, a supply of coffee for the staff break room, $1,000 worth of on-air spots that promote the school and what makes it unique and promotion on spiritcatholicradio.com.
Spirit Catholic Radio holds the annual Superstar Catholic School Contest each year as a way to spotlight the important work of Catholic schools in the listening areas of Nebraska and Western Iowa.
Voting begins Mon., Jan. 29 at 6 a.m. CDT at spiritcatholicradio.com/superstar.
After broadcasting for 10 years on a small signal, on Jan. 29, 2009, Spirit Catholic Radio purchased a new 50,000-watt signal on 102.7 FM and expanded to reach more than 1 million potential listeners throughout eastern Nebraska and western Iowa.KVSS is a non-profit, listener-supported radio station.
Spirit Catholic Radio is available in the Diocese of Lincoln at 91.5-FM for central Nebraska and the Hastings area; 102.7-FM in the Lincoln area; and 90.1-FM in North Platte.
