MARQUETTE (SNR) – The University of Nebraska-Kearney’s Newman Center held a Koinonia Retreat at Timberlake Ranch Camp near Marquette Feb. 23-25.
Attending were 45 student-retreatants, with a “Wheat Team” of students assisting. The retreat was led by the chaplain of the UNK Newman Center, Father Neal Hock, a native of McCook. Assisting with confessions were Father Dave Fulton of the Omaha Archdiocese and pastor of the nearby parish of St. Michael in Central City, as well as the pastor of the closest parish in the Lincoln Diocese, Father Loras Grell of St. Mary Parish in Aurora.
According to Timberlake’s web site, the camp’s goal “is to reach youth with the message of Jesus Christ through an experience in a Christian environment located in a natural setting.” The UNK retreat helped students encounter Jesus in Eucharistic adoration, Mass, and confessions, as well as providing witness talks and community with each other.
