LINCOLN (SNR) – RCIA, or the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults, is the normal process a non-Catholic experiences to enter into the fullness of the Catholic Faith.
But many people who are already Catholic also hunger for experiencing a greater fullness with the faith, struggle with questions of their own, or feel uncertain about how to explain what Catholics believe and why.
This summer, St. Michael Parish in Lincoln will offer an RCIA class—for Catholics. The 10-week refresher course will give current Catholics an opportunity to deepen their knowledge and understanding of the faith and grow in confidence. The class is designed to inspire and invigorate committed Catholics to more boldly embrace, profess, and live the truths of the Church Jesus started.
Participants in the class will explore key elements of Catholic teaching, using the Compendium of the Catholic Church as the main text. Seminarian Joseph Wahlmeier will join the RCIA team for the summer.
Classes will meet for 10 sessions on Mondays, from 6 to 8 p.m., beginning June 4 and ending Aug. 6.
Non-Catholics are welcome to participate; however, those interested in becoming Catholic will want to enroll in their own parish’s regular RCIA process, beginning in the fall.
St. Michael Parish in Lincoln is located at 9101 S. 78th Street, south of Yankee Hill Road between 70th and 84th streets.
There is no cost for the course, and all are welcome.
