(SNR/WME) - Nebraska Worldwide Marriage Encounter recently chose a new ecclesial team to lead the pro-marriage movement within the state.
Father Mark Pfeiffer of St. Wenceslaus Parish in Wahoo and Bruce and Veta Hungerford of Long Pine assumed the leadership role July 1.
Nebraska Worldwide Marriage Encounter is active in the Omaha Archdiocese, Lincoln Diocese and the Grand Island Diocese. Worldwide Marriage Encounter (WME) is the largest pro-marriage organization in the world and assists couples who want to make their good marriage even better.
WME emphasizes communication between husband and wife through a weekend experience, which is free of the everyday distractions and tensions. Participants concentrate on their spouse to such an extent that many are hardly aware of the other couples who are on the weekend. Worldwide Marriage Encounter is open to all married couples regardless of faith, race, age, education, or financial status.
Worldwide Marriage Encounter is not a professional counseling service. It is not a retreat, a marriage clinic, or sensitivity course. It is not a time to look at the past, but rather to the future together. The weekend is a positive, simple, common-sense experience between a husband and wife. It is designed to expand and deepen the joys a couple shares together, whether they’ve been married for a short time or for many years.
WME is also for priests and religious who want to revitalize their relationship with the people of God, and develop an even deeper appreciation for their own vocation.
